Role and qualifications of a Security Volunteer - Please read this first, then scroll down to see available shifts

Don't worry we aren't looking for bouncers! We mostly need people who can be hospitality ambassadors for Ribfest, helping the guests find their way around.
Much of the work is done in pairs, so you aren't alone.

Your duties could include some of the following
1. Walking the grounds in pairs, smiling, saying hello and answering directional questions
2. Controlling entry/exit to the event (counting people, checking bags).
3. Walking the perimeter of the event, just being a presence
Connecting guests with services they need
5. We also have several roles available for those with mobility issues.

Make sure to read the Public Safety Guidelines document that you can find at the following link:
Public Safety Guidelines

If there is something serious that comes up, there are always coordinators and professional security/police you can call on with your nifty walkie-talkie.

We would like all our Security volunteers to be Smart Serve certified. If you have it already, please include your Smart Serve number on the volunteer sign up form for our records. If you aren't Smart Serve certified but would be willing to take the on-line course, at no cost to you, please make a note of this in the Volunteer Notes box. We will then contact you to make arrangements.

Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age before the festival starts to volunteer for the Security volunteer team.

Sign-Up Process
1.  Select the first shift for which you would like to volunteer by clicking the blue "sign up" button to the left of the shift.
2.  Fill in all the fields in the Volunteer sign up form that pops up.  Note that you can resize the window to suit your device.  Fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
3.  If you wish to donate your hours to your favourite charity, check the "Donate Volunteer Hours" box.
4.  In the "Charity for Volunteer Hours Donation" drop down list choose the charity to which you wish to contribute your time.
5.  If your charity is not listed then choose "OTHER" and type the name of your desired charity in the Other Charity box - we will review your selected charity and let you know whether or not it is approved by the club.
6.  After verifying the information click on the sign up button at the bottom of the form.
If you are able to sign up for additional shifts (and we hope you can), simply choose the next shift you would like without closing the main window.  You will not need to fill in all your contact information again, but you will receive a thank-you note via email with some additional information and instructions for each shift for which you have volunteered.  You will also receive a second email for each shift once we have approved your application.
NOTE: Please do not request overlapping shifts.
Organizers need the extra people in those overlapping hours!
